Visiting Portland? Choose TriMet's MAX Red Line for your ground transportation.

MAX Light Rail is the convenient and inexpensive way to get around town, with direct service to many Portland-area destinations, including downtown Portland, Lloyd Center and the Oregon Convention Center.

You can catch MAX on the lower level at PDX, near Baggage Claim.

Before boarding, buy a ticket from the machine at the station. A 2-Hour Ticket costs $2.35.

A 1-Day Pass costs $4.75. Single tickets come pre-validated for immediate use.

Your MAX ticket can also be used on buses, WES Commuter Rail and the Portland Streetcar.

A reader board at the station shows when the next train is due.

MAX runs seven days a week, departing every 15 to 20 minutes during the day, and about every 30 minutes in the early morning and late evening.

The first train of the day arrives at PDX at 4:45 a.m. The last train departs at 11:49 p.m.

It's easy to roll your luggage onboard, thanks to MAX's low floors.

Just make sure it doesn't block the aisle or door.

The trip to downtown Portland takes about 40 minutes.

MAX stops at every station, and the name of the station is announced in advance.

There are maps on board to help you see where the different MAX lines go.

In the Free Rail Zone, which includes most of downtown Portland, the Rose Quarter and the Lloyd District, you can ride MAX and the Portland Streetcar for free.

Just have a seat and enjoy the ride, on us!
