2-Hour Ticket
Unlimited rides on buses and trains for up to 2 hours
A 2-Hour Ticket lets you ride buses, MAX Light Rail, WES Commuter Rail1 and Portland Streetcar for up to 2 hours.
- You can buy a ticket for use in All Zones or 2 Zones2. Learn more about fare zones
- Once validated (time-stamped), a ticket is good for 2 hours. The expiration time is printed on the ticket.
- Single tickets purchased from a ticket machine come pre-validated for immediate use. You can also buy books of 10 unvalidated tickets for use any time.
- When you use an unvalidated ticket or pay in cash on the bus, the operator will give you a transfer receipt valid for at least 1 hour on weekdays or 2 hours on weekends—enough time to complete your trip.
Reduced fare for youth, students, seniors and people with disabilities
Youth ages 7-17, students in high school or pursuing a GED, seniors age 65 or older, Medicare members and people with a mental or physical disability may qualify for a discounted ticket valid in all zones. Learn more about discounted fares
How to use it
On the bus: If your ticket is already validated, just show your ticket to the operator and have a seat. Do not place validated tickets in the farebox. If your ticket is not validated, insert the ticket in the farebox when you board. The operator will give you a transfer receipt, which is good for at least 1 hour on weekdays and 2 hours on weekends. Keep the transfer as proof of payment.
On MAX: First, stamp your ticket in one of the validators at the MAX station, if it's not already validated. Board MAX and make sure you keep your ticket with you in case a fare inspector asks to see proof of payment.
On WES: WES requires an All-Zone fare. First, stamp your ticket in one of the validators at the WES station, if it's not already validated. Board WES and have a seat. Be prepared to show the conductor your ticket. He/she may check your fare as you board, or after the train leaves the station.
On the Portland Streetcar: Board the Streetcar and stamp your ticket in the validator on board, if it's not already validated. Keep your ticket with you in case a fare inspector asks to see proof of payment.
